Okay, here's the biggie...
This is what you're going to create - It's the heart of the whole process!

First, put yourself at ease. This isn't as complicated as it might seem. It's really just a matter of copy and paste. You can do that, right? Okay...

Once you have the code on your site, then it's going to need to be edited just a little bit. Editing is simple, right? You've done that before. And that's all there is to it. See, I told you it wasn't going to be difficult!

Ready?

Okay, let's do it. We're going to highlight all the text in-between the two lines below and then click "copy" on your browser window. (Copy is under Edit in the browser menu bar.) Okay... go for it.

Good!

Now... Open up your home page in what ever program you use to create it. If you use a program like Microsoft Front Page or any of the commercially available programs, you will have something called an HTML view. (Some may call it an "EDIT HTML" ability. Whatever your program calls it, that's where you want to be.)

Find a convenient place that isn't cluttered up with existing code. Usually near the top or near the bottom is good. (But not at the very top or the very bottom - there are beginning and ending codes to your page that need to be there.) You can move it around to just the "right place" once you get out of this view and back into the view you usually work in. Right now you are just looking for a fairly uncomplicated place to paste the code. When you find one, just hit "Paste". Paste is also under Edit in the program menu bar.

Find a place?

Okay. Gopher it! (Just trying to keep it "light"! ) Click Paste.

Good! You're almost there. Now it's just a matter of making a few MINOR changes. Oh yeah, don't forget to take a breath every now and then... it helps.

Now, about the editing...

Below is a copy of the code you just installed. In this copy, everything you will need to edit is in blue print. So all you have to do is skim down both your home page and this page, and compare the two. Whenever you see something in blue print on this page, you'll know that you have to change something on your home page. There will be comments in  purple following anything in blue print.

These purple comments are not part of the code so don't edit them in to your page. They are only to explain what it is about the blue print that you'll be changing.

Got it?

Blue print is something that needs to be edited.
Purple is an explanation of the editing process and should not appear on your page.

Okay... Now there's a couple of things you'll need to check before we begin. Remember those two images you copied form the graphics page? Oh yeah, those... remember? Well, you'll have to get them into your site and onto the web - in what ever way you usually get graphics into your site with your program.  Most programs have an image folder. That might be a good place to put them. Anyway, when we do the editing, you'll need to know exactly where they are on your website so that you can write a path to them.
For example:
http://www.mywebsite.com/imagefolder/earthhands.jpg

When you registered your site on the form... you did sign up, didn't you? Okay, just checking. When you signed up your site you were given a site ID number. It was also sent to you in an e-mail. You'll need to remember your site ID number when we start the editing.

That's all the information you'll need to know... and there are only five changes to make. Sounds easier already, doesn't it?

Okay. Ready to give it a go?

Take a deep breath... and let's do it.

<font face="Arial"></font></p>
<div align="center"><center>
<table border="1" cellspacing="1" bgcolor="#000000" cellpadding="7">
<tr>
<td valign="middle" align="center"><font face="Arial">
<a href="/pan" target=_top>
<img src="/pan/earthhands.jpg"
(This is the first edit. What you'll put in here is the path to the earthhands.jpg image on your site. Make sure you keep the quotation marks before and after. Everything between the "http://www. & earthhands.jpg" will change - according to where you have the images stored on your site. That was easy enough, wasn't it?)
alt="The Planetary Awakening Network" border="0" width="140" height="113"></a></font></td>
<td valign="top" align="center" nowrap><font face="Arial"><font color="#FFFFFF"><strong>
<a href="" target=_top>My Site Name</a>
(This one's pretty straight forward. This is the URL of your site, and the name of the site. Be sure to keep the quotes and the > in the the right place. If the name of your site has more than 50 or 60 characters in it, you might consider shortening it a bit.)
<br>

<a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?
id=
YOURID&ring=pan&next" target=_top>
(These two are pretty straight forward, too. Just delete   YOURID  and replace it with your site ID number. If your ID was 7, type in 7; if it was 48, then type in 48. Be sure not to leave any spaces between the = and your number. There are also no spaces between your number and the &.)
<img src="/pan/arrow2.gif"
(Last one... You're almost home. This is the path to the arrow2.gif image on your site. It will probably look a lot like the path to the earthhands image which was the first edit you made.)
alt="Next Site" align="right" border="1" hspace="5" width="50" height="28"></a><br>

YOU DID IT!

Now you can sit back and admire your work.

Be sure to send an e-mail to panring@spiritual-endeavors.org to let us know of your accomplishment. We'd like to admire it, too. And once we've spent an appropriate amount of  time appreciating your effort, we'll add your site to the web-ring.
